Jim Thorell’s drawings and paintings are hybrids of wistful, fragmented worlds, neither spatially nor temporally definitive. His visual cosmos allows the viewer's gaze to wander through fluid blocks of pastel colours and poetic compositions between figuration and imagination. His works may remind us of art historical predecessors from Symbolism and Surrealism, whilst uniting them with references to comic and tattoo culture into his own pictorial language. He lives and works in Stockholm.

Bei SETAREH muss man erfrischendes Chaos nicht befürchten, dafür "Tropics of beach naps", so der Titel der Soloausstellung des Schweden Jim Thorell am Standort Malereien des Schülers von Daniel Richter tauchen in fragmentierte Welten zwischen Figuration und Imagination ein, mit Bezügen zur Comic- und Tattoo Kultur in einen "nordischen Surrealismus", wie er selbst seinen Ansatz nennt, der einen wilden Gedankenstrom auf die Leinwand überträgt.
